Architecture
The entry point into the gaswork area is a striking gate situation. Starting from the existing building, an internal road connects the three building sites (G1, G2 and G3) to the square in front of the gas meter building. All entrances and communal rooms are located on this internal connection.
The square in front of the gas meter building is to be given a spacious character being used as an exhibition area.
It will be pulled under the building in form of a 2-storey arcade, from which the two entrances to the "G3" building can be reached.
The flair of this covered outdoor area also offers space for a north-facing beer garden for the restaurant.
The restaurant is located on Menzelstraße and is open on three sides. The space is partly two-story, obtains a gallery and can be used flexibly.
The building itself is very compactly developed and can be accessed by two staircases, which make it possible to arrange six
double-sided exposed and ventilated apartments per floor,
Building class 2 is planned with four floors but no attic, building part 3 will consist of six floors without an attic.
On the roof of building class 2, there is a roof garden with a roof terrasse planned on the south/west side and a small common room located next to it.
For cost reasons the building will not have a basement.
The storage rooms are located on the first and second floor - facing north.
The bicycle room on the ground floor is accessible without any thresholds.therefore it ensures threshold free use.
Adaptable housing with a difference
Every standard apartment can be converted into a "smart" apartment quickly, without major interventions - really smart!
The target group "young living" is essentially a flexible group of residents. The family circumstances and living conditions do not (yet) correspond to the classic "categories".
Felxibility outside of one' s own apartment is only ever given when moving in for the first time and is therefore, from our point of view, not an advantage.
Our project follows the principle of a self-growing floor plan.
For example, by putting up an additional wall or furniture, a 55 m2 B-smart apartment can be turned into a 55m2 C-supersmart apartment. The same applies to all other apartments.
